Your Role: 

Are you passionate about carpentry and looking to kickstart your career in the construction industry? Join our team at Cairo Development as a Carpenter Apprentice/Journeyman with our Canmore team! You can develop your carpentry skills while working on various multi-family projects in this role. As a key team member, you will be exposed to hands-on learning experiences to set the foundation for your future growth.

 

Key Functions/ Responsibilities:

Ensures timely completion and surpassing of schedule expectations for all assigned tasks while adhering to specified quality standards.

• Collaborates with the Site Superintendent to implement procedures to enhance job site productivity and improve product quality.

• Undertakes general cleanup, carpentry, and hoarding, as well as the implementation of safety measures (installing handrails, guards, barriers, and fencing) and other typical construction responsibilities.

• Safely manages traffic flow near work zones, ensuring the safety of passersby and workers.

• Excavates ditches or trenches, backfills excavated areas, and skillfully compacts and levels soil to meet grade requirements, utilizing tools like picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, and rakes.

• Utilizes abrasive tools or machinery to grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces such as concrete or wooden flooring.

• Handles the loading, unloading, and identification of building materials, machinery, and tools, verifying packing slips and appropriately distributing items to designated locations.

• Maintains cleanliness and upkeep of the construction trailer, first aid station, and lunchroom trailer.

• Coordinates with the Superintendent to manage equipment usage and servicing, promptly identifying maintenance needs to ensure optimal production and equipment efficiency.

• Demonstrates comprehension of both verbal and written instructions.

• Capably establishes positive relationships with all stakeholders involved in the construction process, fostering harmonious collaborations throughout the project and effectively resolving issues and conflicts as they arise.

• Promptly completes and submits necessary paperwork for personal time sheets.

• Proficiently performs tasks across all facets of the construction project, including climbing ladders up to 60 feet in height and crawling distances of 50 feet.

• Expertly handles tools, lumber, and materials, with the ability to lift and maneuver objects weighing up to 80 lbs for distances of 50 feet.

• Plays a role in enhancing project and company profitability.

• Prioritizes client satisfaction.

• Ensures quality control, integrity, and excellence in project turnovers.

• Maintains and operates tools and equipment per established corporate standards.

• Adheres to the corporate safety program, follows standardized and safe work practices, and promptly reports any incidents to the Site Superintendent, including worker, public, and construction personnel safety matters.

• Demonstrates effective task organization, completing assignments independently or with assistance.

• Fulfills additional responsibilities as needed.

 

Qualifications:

• Currently an active Apprentice Carpenter, at a minimum in the 3rd year of apprenticeship, registered with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT). Those in the 4th year and Journeyman Carpenter category are also encouraged to apply. Possession of a Red Seal certification is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Brings a minimum of 3 years of experience encompassing all residential and commercial construction stages.

• Demonstrates comprehensive familiarity with residential construction and remodelling trades, encompassing practices, protocols, methodologies, tools and equipment, materials, specifications, quality assurance, cost management, and safety protocols.

• Exhibits proficiency in various tasks, including precision trim work, door installation, drilling and configuring door hardware, window setting, staircase and common rafter layout, blueprint interpretation, and effective utilization of mathematical concepts.

• Able to read blueprint comprehension.

• Possesses mathematical and analytical skills necessary for accurate material estimations.

• Able to understand verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Showcases adeptness in resolving challenges.

• Establishes strong rapport with all stakeholders engaged in the construction process, fostering positive interactions with fellow team members and various trades.

Your Role: 

We are seeking a construction labourer for our project site in Calgary, Edmonton, and Canmore, AB.   The successful candidate will report to the Construction Manager and be responsible for achieving and exceeding the construction schedule on all assigned tasks while maintaining quality and safety standards.

 

Key Functions/ Responsibilities:

Execute assigned tasks per schedule.

Alongside the Construction Manager, implement procedures to improve job site productivity and “product quality.”

• Aid with general cleanup, carpentry, hoarding, safety implementation (handrails, guards, barriers, fencing) and other related construction tasks.

Assist with controlling traffic passing near, in, and around work zones.

• Load, unload, identify building materials, machinery, and tools, check packing slips and distribute them to the appropriate locations.

• Clean up and maintain Construction trailer, first aid and lunchroom trailer.

• Coordinate equipment utilization and service with the Construction Manager. Identify maintenance requirements to ensure optimum production and equipment utilization.

• Complete other responsibilities as required.

Ensure that tools and equipment are operating and regularly maintained as is appropriate.

• Abide by the company safety program and report any incidents to the Construction Manager.

• Make timely and cost-effective decisions within the framework of the project as directed.

• Ensure compliance with company quality standards.
professionally represent the company.

• Liaise effectively with all other team members and managers.

• Seek positive construction solutions to issues.

 

Qualifications:

• Registered as an Apprentice Carpenter or wanting to apprentice in the future.

• Valid Telehandler/ Zoom Boom/Variable Reach Forklift ticket (preferred).

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team depending on the project schedule.

• Ability to use and operate various hand tools and power tools.

• The ability to read blueprints, timetables, and schematics is considered an asset.

• Ability to work in all weather conditions throughout the year; work outside all day in extreme heat or cold (examples of these weather conditions include heat in the summer and winter rain in the fall).

• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Our job sites are not accessible by transit; you are solely responsible for your daily transportation to and from the job site.

Your Role: 

The Contract Administrator plays an integral role at Cairo Development. The successful candidate will report directly to the Director of Legal Compliance and Contract Governance. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of administrative duties and tasks related to contracts, stakeholder management, and ensuring the seamless flow of operational processes. This position offers a thrilling opportunity to contribute significantly to the success of our projects, cultivate meaningful relationships with stakeholders, and further develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

 

Key Functions/ Responsibilities:

Provide administration of the subcontracting process for multiple projects at any given time

• Create and manage Rental Exemption applications and City Licensing procedures.

• Assist with collecting and verifying contract support documents, including, but not limited to, WCB, COI, and Licensing compliance for Trade Contractors throughout project lifecycles.

• Performing office administration tasks and researching as required.

• Engage with Trade Contractors and Suppliers throughout the contract process.

• Adapting effectively to changing priorities, ensuring professional and timely meetings of deadlines.

• Regular collaboration and interaction with both internal and external stakeholders.

• Represent the company in a polished manner while fostering effective stakeholder communication.

Perform other assigned responsibilities as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

• Possess at least four years of contract administration experience.

• Construction industry experience is considered an asset.

• Experience with CCDC and similar contracts, Construction Insurance, City Licensing and Rental Exemptions is considered an asset.

• Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel, showcasing chart and graph creation expertise.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Australia, and has consistently demonstrated a track record of excellence in managing full-cycle accounting for various commercial and residential construction projects.

 

Kathy possesses a wealth of knowledge in developing and implementing effective financial forecasting procedures to ensure the realistic and practical allocation of budgets. She has a keen eye for detail and continuously monitors project financial data to align budgets with the needs of stakeholders and end-users.

 

Working closely with project management teams, Kathy ensures that current budgets are realistic and reasonable. Her ability to identify and resolve systematic issues in accounting structures has led to significant improvements in financial reporting accuracy and timeliness.

 

Kathy is proficient in a range of accounting software packages including Sage 100 (Timberline), Sage 300, CMS, ERP-LN, QuickBooks, among others.
